Hyperion
Clinical Research, LLC was founded by two Registered Nurses
in October of 2001 and headquartered in Charleston, WV.
Hyperion Clinical Research provides pharmaceutical, biotech
and contract research organizations a network of local physicians
dedicated to enhancing local access to pharmaceutical drug
development.

As one of the two co-founders of Hyperion Clinical Research, Julie Mobayed provides the company with over 12 years of experience in the management of clinical trials. Her background with both the financial and clinical sides of the business helps provide stability and positions Hyperion for growth.
Prior to co-founding Hyperion, she served as the Director of Clinical Management at a small site management organization in Charleston, WV. She started in the healthcare industry as a Registered Nurse specializing in cardiovascular critical care. Ms. Mobayed developed an interest in the law and successfully completed the paralegal program at Georgetown University. In October of 1990, she turned her focus toward the clinical research industry by accepting a position as a Clinical Research Associate at Biometric Research Institute, Inc., (BRI), a contract research organization. In her tenure there, her career path led her into project management where she designed project strategies, protocols, planned and developed project schedules and budgets and prepared and submitted major FDA regulatory documents. Quintiles, Inc. later acquired BRI and after nearly 7 years with the CRO, Camcare Inc., a 930-bed hospital system, recruited Ms. Mobayed. Her goal at Camcare was to help in developing a centralized Clinical Trials Center. Ms. Mobayed acted as the Clinical Research Manager and successfully developed and managed the trial center’s million-dollar business.
Ms. Mobayed received her Bachelor of Science in nursing degree from Alderson-Broaddus College and a Masters degree in Public Health from The George Washington University.

As one of the two co-founders of Hyperion Clinical Research, Ms. Tappe manages the clinical operations of the business, as well as providing the vision for the future.
Prior to her tenure at Hyperion, she served as Director of Clinical Operations for Appalachian Medical Research, a small SMO based in Charleston, WV. She began her career in healthcare as a Registered Nurse at Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, WV specializing in neurological critical care for five years and then moving into medical-surgical intensive care nursing for two years. In 1988, she moved to Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, VA to diversify her career in cardiovascular nursing. While at Fairfax she served as preceptor for new staff, and she acted as resource person in clinical decision making, planning, patient/family instruction and development of discharge plans. She also served as charge nurse. In May of 1992 she changed direction and entered the clinical research industry by accepting a position as Clinical Research Coordinator at Fairfax Hospital. In her tenure there, she managed several large research studies for leading pharmaceutical and medical device companies. She was also responsible for training all new personnel in study coordination and overseeing staff in conducting clinical trials. In 1997, Camcare Health Education and Research Institute (CHERI) recruited her for the position of Senior Clinical Research Coordinator. She was successful in helping to develop their Clinical Trials Center.
Ms. Tappe received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing form Marshall University and a Masters degree in Advanced Clinical Nursing from George Mason University.
